DEFENSIVE DRIVING

While a good offense may be the best defense in football, this doesn't hold true in driving. A professional driver is a top defensive driver. He or she seems to have eyes (or mirrors) in the back of his/her head. These drivers stay out the other fellow's way.
THE PROFESSIONAL DRIVER:
a)     Knows and obeys the company rules for the operation of his vehicle.
b)    Knows and obeys the traffic rules and regulations applicable to the area in which he is driving.
c)     Is aware of the traffic situations far ahead on both sides and to the rear of his vehicle.
d)    Is constantly alert to illegal acts and errors of other drivers.
e)     Is willing to yield the right-of-way to prevent accidents and does not tailgate.
f)      Is particularly cautious approaching intersections. Lessens the odds of an accident by taking his foot off the gas and putting it on the brake to shorten reaction time for stopping.
g)     Knows and adjusts his driving to the special hazards of : (1) pedestrians (2) the road (3)weather (4) traffic (5) degree of light and (6) the added dangers brought on by his own emotions such as anger or worry.
h)    Requires an attitude of confidence that he can drive without ever having an accident. He is positive about accident prevention.
i)       Drives as though every child in the street is his own and every motorist is a dear relative or friend.
j)       Knows the secret of safe driving.
